Consumer-grade outdoor speakers fail at the coast. The driver surrounds degrade, the grille mesh corrodes, and within a season or two you are replacing them. Coastal Source Audio is engineered specifically for marine environments: stainless hardware throughout, UV-stable enclosures, and driver materials that hold up to salt air indefinitely. We installed Coastal Source bollard speakers along the pool deck and pathway to the dock, with in-ground subwoofers at the pool terrace to provide the low-frequency foundation that bollard speakers alone cannot deliver.

The marine-grade enclosures we spec for dock applications use a similar philosophy: sealed, pressurized, and built for the specific conditions of waterfront use rather than adapted from indoor designs.
Networking infrastructure outdoors uses Ubiquiti UniFi access points in weatherproof enclosures, mounted at the pavilion and guest cottage. Coverage extends to the dock. Guests and staff can move freely across the property without losing connection.
Landscape Lighting as a System
The lighting design for the property was a collaboration between our team and the landscape architect. Pathway lighting, uplighting on specimen trees, dock lighting, and pool surround illumination are all controlled through Lutron’s outdoor dimming system, integrated with the whole-home Crestron platform. Scenes were programmed for sunset arrival, entertaining, late night, and a security mode that brings the property to full illumination. The dock lighting required particular attention. Marine-grade fixtures, submersible LED strips at the waterline, and above-deck luminaires that provide safe navigation without washing out the water view. All controlled from the same Crestron interface as the interior spaces.

Pool Automation and Outdoor Theater
Pool and spa automation runs on a Pentair IntelliCenter controller, integrated with the Crestron system. An “Arrival” scene heats the spa to 102°F and activates the pool deck audio thirty minutes before a scheduled arrival time.
The covered pavilion at the far end of the pool terrace serves as an outdoor theater space. A 130-inch retractable projection screen drops from a weatherproof housing in the ceiling beam, paired with a short-throw laser projector in an outdoor-rated enclosure. The Coastal Source subwoofers beneath the pavilion deck provide the bass foundation. When the screen goes up, the scene automatically adjusts the landscape lighting to a low ambient level and brings the audio system to cinema configuration.
Coordination Across the Property
One of the most significant challenges on a multi-structure property is running low-voltage infrastructure between buildings and outdoor structures without disrupting mature landscaping. We worked with the landscape contractor to route conduit during the pre-plant phase of the landscape installation, documenting every run with precision so that future service technicians can locate and access infrastructure without guesswork.
