Coastal Source bollard speakers were installed at four positions around the pool deck perimeter, spaced to provide even coverage without audible localization of any single speaker. Two Coastal Source in-ground subwoofers were placed at the pool deck corners. The subwoofers are sealed below grade with pressure-equalization ports, tested for submersion resistance, and designed to be forgotten about between seasons.
The Coastal Source amplifier lives in the pool house rack. All cabling between the rack and the speakers runs in conduit, sealed at both ends against moisture ingress. Every termination uses outdoor-rated connectors. The system has run through four New Jersey winters without a single weather-related service call. That is the expectation, not the exception, when the right products are specified and installed correctly.
The Display: Built for Full Sun
Samsung The Terrace 75-inch outdoor television was mounted on the pool house exterior wall under the covered overhang. protection from direct precipitation, but still exposed to reflected light and ambient humidity. The Terrace is rated for outdoor installation in these conditions: IP55-rated, anti-reflective glass calibrated for 2,000 nits of brightness in full sun, and operating range from −4°F to 122°F.
The mounting hardware is stainless steel. The HDMI and power connections run through sealed conduit into the pool house wall and directly to the rack. No exposed cable runs, no compression fittings that will fail after three freeze-thaw cycles. The installation was designed with the assumption that nobody would be checking on it for years at a time.

Infrastructure: The Pool House Rack
The pool house hosts a Strong Systems 12U weatherproof outdoor rack enclosure. rated for non-conditioned, non-climate-controlled spaces. Inside it: the Coastal Source amplifier, a Crestron AMP for zoned audio, a UniFi PoE switch feeding the outdoor access points, and the surge protection and power conditioning that every outdoor rack requires. The rack is mounted at a height that keeps it above any realistic flood line and ventilated for the peak summer thermal load.
Two Ubiquiti UniFi U6-Extender access points cover the pool deck and back lawn, mounted on the pool house exterior in weatherproof mounting positions. They are fed via Cat6A from the pool house switch, which is fed via fiber from the main house. WiFi coverage extends to approximately 150 feet into the rear lawn. well past the seating and dining areas.
Lighting Control
Lutron RadioRA 3 handles the exterior lighting: pool deck uplighting, path lights to the rear gate, overhang soffit lights at the pool house, and step lighting along the terrace edges. All zones are programmed with sunset-based scheduling that adjusts for the changing season without manual updates. The “Entertaining” scene and the “Security” full-on scene are accessible from the same Crestron touchpanel inside the pool house that controls the audio and display.
