Motorized Shades Standards

How we install motorized shade systems that align across a wall, sync across a room, and disappear into the architecture. Pocket sizing, motor selection, fabric coordination, hard-stop programming, and the alignment standards that make a multi-window run look like one piece of glass.

Field Notes

The two failures we see most often on motorized shades: pockets that are too tight, and alignment that is not synchronized. A pocket that is too small forces a smaller tube, which limits the fabric width, which means more seams across a window run. Synchronization is a programming and motor-selection issue, but it shows up at trim when the homeowner watches the shades come down at different speeds.

This standard prevents both. We size the pocket for the largest reasonable tube. We select motors that can be synchronized (not all motors can). We commission the run as a group, not as individual shades. The result is what a luxury shade is supposed to look like.
