Concrete is not forgiving. Conduit under a slab has to be right before the pour. A stub-up that is six inches from where the drawing shows it, or a conduit that was not placed at all, becomes a core-drill job in finished concrete. This standard defines the verification steps that prevent those situations.
The pre-slab window is also when future-use conduit for outdoor zones should be placed. Running a spare sleeve under the slab to the terrace or pool equipment room at rough-in costs almost nothing. Adding it after the slab is poured is a significant job. We document the future-use conduit requirements in this standard.
