About This Course

Motorized shading systems perform at their best when the window and shading specifications are developed in parallel. not in sequence. This course examines the relationship between Marvin window configurations, glazing performance data, and motorized shading specification, with a focus on the rough-in and coordination requirements that must be established before window installation. Co-presented with Marvin’s regional representative and Restrepo Innovations, this session is designed for architects who specify Marvin products in luxury residential projects.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:

  1. Identify Marvin window configurations. casement, awning, lift-and-slide, and picture. and explain how frame depth and trim profile affect motorized shading pocket specification.
  2. Cross-reference Marvin glazing performance data (SHGC, VLT) with shading fabric openness factors to optimize solar control at each facade orientation.
  3. Specify motorized shade pocket dimensions and blocking requirements in coordination with Marvin window rough openings at the CD phase.
  4. Coordinate shading system commissioning with window installation sequence to protect finished frames and glazing during rough-in.
