About This Course

On a luxury residential project, the electrical contractor, lighting control integrator, and low-voltage integrator each carry portions of an interconnected system. and the seams between their scopes are where projects fail. This course maps the coordination touchpoints between all three trades, giving GCs and builders a shared framework for managing scope, schedule, and documentation across the electrical and low-voltage site work.

Learning Objectives

At the end of this course, attendees will be able to:

  1. Describe the distinct scopes of the electrical contractor, lighting control integrator, and low-voltage integrator, and identify the coordination documents required to manage their interfaces.
  2. Specify the electrical prerequisites. dedicated circuits, home-run circuit labeling, neutral wire requirements, and load calculations. that must be in place before lighting control commissioning can begin.
  3. Establish a pre-rough-in coordination meeting agenda that aligns all three trades on box locations, conduit routing, and panel scheduling.
  4. Identify the most common scope gaps between trades. conduit termination ownership, device trim installation, and network power (PoE) provisioning. and assign clear responsibility in the project scope documents.

Why This Matters

A lighting control system that cannot be commissioned because the neutral wires were omitted from the switch legs. a common electrical rough-in error on older-practice projects. requires a panel change and re-pull of switch circuits throughout the home. The cost is borne by the GC, and the delay pushes commissioning past the owner’s move-in date.
