When clients ask who will be working in their home, the answer matters. Not as a sales exercise. but because a project of any real complexity requires multiple disciplines functioning together with clear handoffs. The programmer cannot cover for bad rough-in work. The project manager cannot compensate for a field technician who improvises instead of follows documentation. Understanding who does what. and what that role actually entails. helps clients understand what they are buying.
The Programmers
Crestron programming is a genuine technical specialty. Our programmers hold Crestron certification and write in SIMPL and SIMPL# against structured coding standards. What that means practically: scenes that execute cleanly and reliably, user interface logic that is intuitive and fast, integrations with lighting, climate, security, and AV that behave consistently. Programming is where the system personality lives. A thoughtfully programmed system feels effortless. A poorly programmed one. regardless of hardware quality. never quite does what you want it to.
Our programmers are also responsible for documentation. Every program we deliver comes with a control document that explains the logic: what triggers what, how zones are organized, and how a technician can modify behavior without reverse-engineering someone else’s work years later. That documentation is not an afterthought. It is the thing that makes service calls faster and cheaper over the life of the system.
The Field Technicians
Field technicians handle everything from rough-in wire pulls through trim-out and final installation. On a luxury residential project, that means running structured cabling to exact specification. proper bend radii, clean terminations, labeled and dressed to look intentional rather than improvised. It means mounting equipment in alignment with the designer’s intent, not wherever is easiest. And it means building equipment racks that are organized, properly ventilated, and labeled so that any qualified technician can work in them without a guide.
We do not rotate technicians arbitrarily across projects. The same lead tech who handled the rough-in typically carries through to trim-out and commissioning. Continuity matters on complex jobs. The tech who pulled the wire knows where it runs and why.
The Project Managers
Project management on a high-end AV integration is primarily a coordination function. The PM is the interface between our team and the general contractor, the architect, the interior designer, the electrician, and the homeowner. On an active construction site, scheduling is a constant puzzle: AV rough-in has to follow structural and electrical, trim-out follows finish work, and commissioning cannot begin until trades are cleared and utilities are live.

Our project managers also handle pre-installation coordination: distributing drawing sets to the GC and electrician, confirming conduit and backing locations are correct before walls close, and resolving scope questions before they become field problems. Most installation mistakes are actually planning mistakes that no one caught early enough.
The Designers
On projects where Restrepo Innovations is engaged at the design phase. which is our preference. our design team works directly with the client’s architect and interior designer to specify products, locations, and infrastructure before construction begins. Speaker placement, screen locations, rack sizing, keypad positions, outdoor zone design. these decisions have a direct impact on both the aesthetics and the performance of the finished system.
Design documentation includes CAD drawings, equipment specifications, rack elevation drawings, and a scope narrative that the client and GC can reference throughout the project. It is the difference between a project that comes together as intended and one that involves improvised decisions at every turn.
